Lunch and Learn: Women of the Red Earth

Join us on Friday, August 25 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at the Imperial Centre for a unique Lunch and Learn in the Art Galleries. Lunch will take place amongst the exhibit Women of the Red Earth.
This program is currently full.

Our speakers are also the artists behind Women of the Red Earth: writer and poet Tonya Holy Elk Locklear, who is Lumbee/Oglala Lakota; and visual artist Margie Beth Labadie, who is Ashkenazi-Levi. They will be speaking about their individual artworks and inspirations as well as how their friendship developed into a creative partnership. They believe that “art and literature can be used toward creating culturual bridges and healing.”

Yoga in the Galleries

 An after-hours relaxation experience amongst the art. Participants will be invited to bring their own yoga mat, pick a spot in an art gallery and be led by a certified yoga instructor through an hour program. It is a Thursday evening program – perfect for professionals to come after work.

Every Thursday evening, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Pilates in the Galleries

Join us for an after-hours Pilates class in the Art Galleries that will make you sweat! Amy Skaggs will lead participates through stretches, repetitive moves, light weight training, and more.

Tour the Imperial Centre’s Art Education studios and learn about the range of programs for beginner through advanced students in ceramics, painting, drawing, and more. Demonstrations and activities provided. Registration is not required, drop-ins of all ages welcome.

Fabric Dyeing: Intro to Japanese Shibori #4592

This two-day intensive class introduces the art of shibori or creating designs on textiles using dyes and paint. Students experiment with techniques of wrapping, stitching, tying, folding, and knotting to transform fabric into unique and wearable art. Beginner to intermediate age 14+.
