Yoga in the Galleries

Yoga in the Galleries will be an after-hours relaxation experience amongst the art. Participants will be invited to bring their own yoga mat, pick a spot in an art gallery and be led by a certified yoga instructor through an hour program. It will be a five week, Thursday evening program – perfect for professionals to come after work.

Every Thursday evening, January 5 – February 23, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Register online for all eight classes for only $35! Or, pay as you go. Walk-ins are only $5, as space allows.

Open Art Studios: Painting

Each Tuesday night, the Imperial Center’s painting studio is open! Beginners to advanced students are welcome to share our studio, and work on current projects. A selection of easels will be available. No instruction or materials provided. Ages 16+.

This workshop will specifically focus on preparing monologues for audition purposes. Students will learn how to pick the correct monologue and how to make strong, bold, and memorable choices. Students will also learn the basics of auditioning etiquette and “slating”.

Intro to Acting: Auditions and Scene Study #4170

This introductory course for students age 12 to adult, is the perfect class for the beginning actor or for experienced actors who want to sharpen their skills.  This class will focus on how to prepare cold scenes at auditions as well as how to dissect scenes into beats and make strong choices in the audition, rehearsal, and performance process.

Clay Workshop: Raku #4177

Try your hand at a spectacular and fast ancient firing technique! Using materials like sawdust and newspaper, students will experiment with forms and glazes to illuminate an object’s surface with flashes of color. The first Saturday is dedicated to creating a variety of raku clay wares; the following class focuses on glazing and firing. Open to beginner to advanced, age 15+.

This two-day intensive class introduces the art of shibori or creating designs on textiles using dyes and paint. Students experiment with techniques of wrapping, stitching, tying, folding, and knotting to transform fabric into unique and wearable art. Beginner to intermediate, age 14+.
