Another successful outreach event, this one at the Rose Hill Conference Center in Castalia, NC, hosted by American Wild Turkey Federation's JAKES Day event. Over 150 participants enjoyed sunspots and other amazing features on the Sun's fiery surface through a safely-filtered telescope operated by staff from the Imperial Centre's Cummins Planetarium.

A light scattering of clouds continue to clear as temperatures cool, for our Autumnal Equinox Star Party at City Lake Park, tonight from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Join us for beautiful views of the Moon, Saturn and Earth orbiting satellites. A laser-guided constellation tour will take place at some point in the evening as well. Tomorrow morning from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, we'll be at the Rocky Mount Farmers Market, on Peachtree St., providing safely filtered telescopic views of the Sun. Join us!

SOLAR VIEWING AT ROCKY MOUNT FARMERS MARKET
Photosynthesis and plant growth begin with sunlight! On Saturday, September 23, the first full day of autumn, take a good look through a safely-filtered telescope at the fiery surface of the Sun. Weather permitting, trained observers from the Imperial Centre’s Cummins Planetarium will be on hand to provide amazing views of sunspots, prominences and other solar features. The Farmers Market is located at 1006 Peachtree St. in Rocky Mount. Viewing takes place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, weather permitting.
