As we close out another terrific year, we must also close our Fall Art Exhibitions. There is still time to drop by and experience the exhibits before they close. In case you need a refresher, here’s a list of what we offer:
Forty exceptional potters are on display. Most of these potters are students of Dan Finch, who runs a studio and hosts classes in Bailey, NC. Pieces that have not already been sold will have their prices reduced by 40% or more during its closing weekend sale! Stop by the Arts Center on December 16 & 17 to purchase a piece on sale. Our weekend hours are: Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm.
Mark Gordon is an art professor from Barton College in Wilson, NC. He has traveled the world learning how other cultures create pottery. Through it all, Gordon’s creativity will awe any visitor. His works range from the expected (vessels and pots) to the unexpected (sculpture and installations).
Our Living Past is a wet plate photography exhibition by Timothy Duffy. This exhibition features blues, folk, and jazz musicians from around the Southern United States. While you enjoy the photographs, you’ll be listening to examples of the music these diverse and inspiring musicians play.
As frequently as possible, we at the Maria V. Howard Arts Center like to remind our visitors of the dynamic and diverse art collection owned and operated by the City of Rocky Mount. This exhibit celebrates North Carolina artists and represents their vast variety of mediums. We have everything from photography and painting to lithography and collage. We are exhibiting glass, a basket, pottery, stone, and even metal work.
