We are now accepting submissions for the 23rd annual Sculpture Salmagundi, outdoor sculpture juried art show! This year’s juror is Jason Smith. Sculpture artists can submit their entries until June 28, 2019. It is FREE to submit up to three works for consideration.
We’re looking for outdoor sculptures that can withstand weather and heavy traffic for up to a year, that does not pose any threat to public safety. All mediums are welcome! Sculptures will be placed in locations around Rocky Mount that may not have constant supervision, so safety and durability are extremely important. The Arts Center will provide a back hoe to assist with installs upon request on weekdays only. When submitting larger sculptures, please keep this in mind. Artists will be required to give a brief audio clip to Otocast about themselves, their work, or the sculpture selected for the show. For more details, please read the prospectus or visit the Artist Opportunity page.
Our juror will select 10 sculptures for this year’s show. Every sculpture selected will receive a $1,000 honorarium to cover costs of delivery, install, and uninstall (at the end of the exhibition). One sculpture will be selected by the juror for the Best in Show award, a $1,000 prize.
The People’s Choice Award is an opportunity for the public to engage with the sculptures and vote on their favorite. The winning sculpture will be announced in May 2020, accessioned into the Permanent Art Collection, and win $5,000.
Sculpture artists may choose to opt out of eligibility for the People’s Choice Award.
Sculptors should submit their entries via email after completely reading the Sculpture Salmagundi Prospectus. Instructions on what to include in your email submission is outlined in the prospectus. All entries should be emailed to MVHArtsCenterSubmissions@gmail.com.
