Registration Guidelines

Registration is required for all fee based classes and workshops, unless otherwise noted. Payment is required at time of registration. Participants are not considered enrolled until payment has been made. Enroll online, or by calling 252-972-1266, or by visiting the Imperial Centre at 270 Gay Street.

Parks & Recreation Refund Policy:
Participants receive an 85% refund when canceling prior to a class/workshop start date; a refund of 50% is issued for cancellations within the first week of class; no refund is issued for cancellations after two class meetings.

Ongoing Programs

Yoga in the Galleries

Every Tuesday, 5:30-6:30pm
Yoga in the Galleries has returned to the Arts Center! Join us every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 for an after-hours yoga experience among the art exhibits. It costs only $5 to participate per person, per session. Bring your yoga mat and get ready to unwind. Our yoga instructor is Robin Sellers.

Make Art: Drop-in Workshops #5120

Every other Saturday, 11am–1pm
November 3 & 17, and December 1 & 15.
Join us to experiment with different types of art! Travel around the Imperial Centre, observe sculpture, paintings, drawings, photographs, architecture, and many more artist-made objects, and then make your own! Registration is not required, drop-ins of age 6+ welcome. Limited to 25 participants.

Family Sundays #5121

Every other Sunday, 2–4pm
November 11 & 25, and December 9 & 23.
Sundays are for families! Bring your family to the art gallery for an afternoon full of family-friendly activities. Drop into the gallery for art making, interactive play, gallery sketching, or go on your own exhibition tour! Registration is not required, drop-ins of age 3 and up with accompanying adults welcome.

Lunch and Learn

Selected Fridays, 12–1pm
Bring a lunch and interact with artists! From painters, to photographers and all artists in between, learn about process, discuss projects, and ask questions during an hour-long interactive gallery talk and demonstration. Open to all ages, all materials provided; no experience necessary. Registration is suggested by the Wednesday before each program.

Color Exploration: Painting Workshop #5129

Saturday, November 3, 10am–4pm
Understanding the world of color is important for all artists! Open to artists of any media, experiment with the principles of color theory through mixing, palette development, and build a foundation in the special qualities of color. Design Cars! Family Workshop #5130

Design Stamps: Card Making Workshop #5128

Create unique cards for any occasion! Experimenting with printmaking, carve your own stamp, and construct cards and envelopes. Age 4+. All materials provided; no experience necessary. Registration is required by November 7. Limited to 20 participants.

Beginning Wheel Throwing #5133

Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 30–November 15, 5:30–8:30pm
Perfect for the complete beginner to learn the basics of clay. Practice wedging, centering, trimming, and glazing. All are welcome to work at their own pace and make a variety of cylinders and bowls. All materials provided; no experience necessary. Age 16+. Registration is required by October 26. Limited to 12 participants.
