Hand-building in Clay

Fridays, February 9 & 23, 10:30am – 12:30pm
Explore techniques for creating functional and sculptural forms in this fun class designed for all levels! Learn and construct using clay slabs, coil building, and pinching. Experiment with texture and glaze to make truly unique and personal ceramic treasures. All materials provided; no experience necessary.

Acting For Stage

Tuesdays, February 27–April 17, 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Do you have an interest in acting? This class introduces the beginning actor to the foundations and character building through the Stanislavski method. Learn and experiment with script analysis, memorization, movement, voice, and partner acting. Age 13+, all materials provided; no experience necessary.

Sing Songs Together

Fridays, March 2–April 27, 10:30am – 11:30am
Interact with music and the alphabet! For parents and young students ages 3 and up, journey to different parts of the world, learn about foods and arts through song and participation. All materials provided; no experience necessary. Ages 3+ with accompanying adult.

Intro to Printmaking Workshop

Saturdays, March 3 & 10, 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Experiment with the basics of printing through a hands-on exploration of process, tools, and color. Learn about monoprint and linocut techniques. Leave this 2-day workshop with multiple pieces of artwork, a carved plate, and knowledge of how to print at home! All materials provided; no experience necessary. Ages 11+

Wheel Throwing

Beginning Drawing

Practice the art of drawing! Experiment with techniques, and discovering how to represent what you see through studies in contour drawing, perspective, positive/negative space, and value. Students develop a deeper understanding of capturing any subject as an artist or designer. Beginner to intermediate age 12+.

Intro to Fabric Dyeing

Saturday and Sunday, April 14th & 15th, 12–5pm
Join us for this fun and colorful two-day workshop! Learn about the art of shibori and create your own designs on cloth. Experiment with techniques of wrapping, folding, and knotting to transform fabric into unique and wearable art. All materials are provided for a fee of $20/person. No experience necessary; age 12+.

Intermediate Drawing

Designed for students who already have a grasp of basic drawing techniques, this class takes you deeper into form, structure and expression. Using pencil, charcoal, and ink, start with still lifes and progress to an introduction to figure drawing. All materials provided or bring your own tools and sketchbook; no experience necessary. Images on Clay Workshop

Saturdays, April 21 & 28, 12–4pm
Experiment with adding images to clay! In this 2-part workshop, students create a functional or sculptural clay object and embellish the surface with images. Design your own image and learn how to transfer it onto your object using colored slips. All materials are provided. No experience necessary Beginner to advanced age 12+.

Intermediate Watercolor: Illustration

Intro to Documentary Photography

Saturday, May 5, 10am–3pm
Join us for an introduction to documentary photography! Learn how to create compelling images for creative storytelling using your unique perspective. Participants will talk about photography, tools, and travel around the Imperial Centre’s campus creating art in their own backyard! Students are responsible for providing their own camera (point and shoot, DSLR, cell phone) and lunch. No experience necessary; ages 11+

Intro to Charcoal Drawing Workshop

Saturday, May 12, 12–4pm
Learn the essentials of drawing with charcoal! Using still lifes as the subject, students practice techniques including, line, contour, subtractive drawing to build foundational skills. Start with loose and simple sketches to warm up hand-eye coordination, and move onto layering tones to achieve depth and visual interest. Mugs and Bowls: Clay Workshop

Yoga in the Galleries

Thursdays, January through May, 5:30pm – 6:30pm
Relax after-hours amongst the art! Bring your own yoga mat and be led by a certified yoga instructor for an hour-long program in the galleries. Join us every Thursday – perfect for professionals, beginners, and advanced yogis.

Make Art: Drop-in Workshops

Every other Saturday, February 24- May 19 (no class April 7), 11:00am – 1:00pm
Join us to experiment with different types of art! Travel around the Imperial Centre, observe sculpture, paintings, drawings, photographs, architecture, and many more artist-made objects, and then make your own! Registration is not required, drop-ins of age 6+ welcome. Limited to 25 participants.
