Celebrate the artist inside you! Arts classes and workshops at the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences are for community members of all ages to experiment with artistic disciplines, different materials and techniques. Try something new, collaborate with one another, and stay curious.

Line Dancing

Tuesdays, September 10-December17

If you love to dance & meet new friends, then line dancing is for you! Move (and exercise) to all types of music while learning basic beginner dance steps. Line dancing is great for your mind, body & soul. Come join the fun! Registration suggested. Limited to 10 participants.

Beginning Wheel Throwing

Mondays, September 16-November 6 (no class 9/30)

Age 12+
$105/city-resident, $155/non-resident

Perfect for the complete beginner to learn the basics of clay. Practice wedging, centering, trimming, and glazing. All are welcome to work at their own pace and make a variety of ceramic objects. All materials included. No prior experience needed. Registration is required by September 14. Limited to 10 participants.

More Mixed Media

Thursdays, September 19-October17

Learn even more techniques to create interesting mixed media art pieces.  Using papers, paint, and more, consider composition, color, texture and layering complete compositions of art. All materials included. No prior experience needed. Registration is required by September 15. Limited to 15 participants.

Arts Afterschool

Starting this fall, make art with us twice a week! Students meet afterschool, learn about artists, and create original art. All materials included. No prior experience needed. Limited to 12 participants.

Creative Flow Yoga

Tuesdays, September 24-October 29

Join our newest yoga class tailored specifically for emerging the authentic inner artist! Explore how the practice of yoga can enhance creativity, focus, and overall well-being. Do you often spend long hours hunched over your work, leading to tension and stiffness in the body? Through a series of gentle yoga poses and flowing movements, we’ll release tension in the neck, shoulders, and back, allowing for greater ease of movement and freedom in expression. Bring a yoga mat, water and an open mind. Meets for 6 weeks. Pre-registration is suggested, drop-ins welcome. Limited to 15 participants.

Noon Yoga for Balance and Strength

Whether you are looking to approach the holidays with grace – approach life with balance – or to age with vitality and strength – this class will be a blend of stretching, balance, and strength work for any age. We will also focus on self-healing and balancing breathwork techniques – offering Somatic Yoga techniques to increase the benefits of your yoga practice. Beginner to advanced – this class will offer something for everyone. Bring a yoga mat, water and an open mind. Meets for 6 weeks. Pre-registration is suggested, drop-ins welcome. Mommy & Me ARTS

Explore a variety of art materials, experience new textures, improve fine motor skills, and enjoy being creative together. Each class introduces children and caregivers to a story, art materials and creativity. All materials are provided. Pre-registration is suggested, drop-ins welcome. Limited to 15 participants.

Joy of Dance Afterschool

Students of all ages are welcome to express themselves freely, build self-esteem, and ignite joy and creativity through a fusion mix of dance styles. Final performance rehearsal: Wednesday, December 11. Final performance for family and friends Friday, December 13. All costumes provided; no experience necessary. Limited to 15 participants. Reverse Tie-Dye Workshop

Experiment with this cool tie dying technique. Bring a non-white blank cotton t-shirt or old t-shirt with designs or not. All other materials are provided. No prior experience needed. Limited to 20 participants.

Traditional Tie-Dye Workshop

Learn different tie dye techniques in creating a fun tie dye design.  Bring a white cotton item or use the item from the reverse tie dye for a one-of-a-kind look. All other materials are provided. No prior experience needed. Limited to 20 participants.

Beginning Mosaics

Saturday, October 19

Learn the art of mosaics and create your own unique photo frame! Using recycled materials, glass, shells, and more, experiment with traditional mosaic tools and construction techniques. Bring in anything you’d like to add to your frame such as broken jewelry, broken china, small tokens that will add depth and color. All other materials are provided. No prior experience needed. Register by October 16. Limited to 15 participants.

Walking Photography

See like a photographer and go on a walking photography tour! Meet at the Imperial Centre and other picturesque areas around the city. Any type of camera will do to experiment with framing, composition and subject. No prior experience needed. Limited to 20 participants.

Mosaic Sculpture

Saturday, November 9

$25/person

Think outside the box to create a unique found art sculpture. Experiment with traditional mosaic techniques and tools and unconventional materials including broken china, saucers, tea cups, marbles, stones, sea shells, small play toys, and more. Each artist will bring home a 3- dimensional one of a kind hanging sculpture. Students are welcome to bring in personal objects to incorporate in their artwork. All other materials are provided. No prior experience needed. Register by November 6. Limited to 15 participants.

Intro to Clay
