Steeped in industrial charm, this historic landmark has been restored and showcases original brick and metalwork of the Imperial Tobacco Company. Booker T Theater, built in 1901, serves as the perfect historic theater setting for any occasion. Both venues offer a range of unique settings to compliment weddings, receptions, business and social events.

How do I book a space I’m interested in?
Renters must schedule an appointment to meet with the rental coordinator and tour event spaces. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 10am – 4pm. To request, please call 252-972-1266 or email [email protected]. 

Can anyone book a rental at our facility?
Yes, anyone 21 years of age or older may rent the available spaces.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?
Rental applications may be submitted up to 12 months in advance of the event date. Please check with the rental coordinator for date availability.

Can I see the rental space before I book it?
Yes! The rental coordinator is available by appointment only for a tour of the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences or the Booker T. Theatre.

Do we have to hire a caterer?
Yes, renters are responsible for selecting and hiring a catering service.

Is outside catering allowed?
Yes, we do not have a preferred caterer’s list but please let your vendor know that cooking is not allowed inside any of our facilities.

Do we have to setup and breakdown our tables and chairs?
No, the facilities staff will place the equipment in accordance with the information provided to the rental coordinator. Staff will also breakdown the facility equipment.

Do you serve alcohol?
No, neither the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences nor the Booker T. Theatre serve or provide alcohol for rental events. Renters who wish to serve alcohol must submit the required paperwork and receive prior approval.

What is the maximum number of people your facility can accommodate?
Our event spaces can accommodate intimate to larger events. Our largest indoor space can accommodate as many as 350 people (floating/standing reception) in one space. Please check the rental application for detailed information on each space.

Does the rental space come with tables and chairs?
Yes, each space has table and chairs to accommodate the max capacity for guest seating at no extra charge. Our Main Common Area rental space also includes cocktail tables, easels, for portrait/sign displays and a portable PA system. Our Booker T. Theater facility provides tables and chairs, a portable projector, easels and also a portable PA system.
