PEOPLE’S CHOICE ART SHOW CALL FOR ENTRIES
The Maria V Howard Arts Center proudly announces a call for art from Tri-County Artists (Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson Counties).
The People’s Choice Art Show is open to artists 18 years and up.
Art Show runs June 28-September 6, 2026
Art Reception: June 28, 2026, 2-4 pm
Artists may submit art in any medium.
Art may not exceed 6 ft in any direction unless pre-approved by Arts Center staff. Art must be ready to install, and staff has the right to reject art if not ready for installation.
Costs for Submissions:
$10/one entry
$20/two entries
$25/three entries
Artists must complete registration, complete an application, and make payment no later than June 20, 2026.

- Drop by and pick up an application at the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences.
Artists may drop off their submissions May 28-June 20, 2026 during our regular gallery hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5 pm or Sunday, 1 pm-5pm.
We are closed for the following holidays, Memorial Day, May 25, 2026 and Friday, Juneteenth, June 19, 2026.
The public will vote for their favorite work of art June 28th-August 1st.
Winners will be contacted in the week of August 4th and the winners will be announced to the public by August 7th.

Sales
If artists choose to sale their work, they are responsible for all sales. Please note that staff require artists who wish to sale art to provide a method of contact, QR code, or some other method to present to patrons.
Upon purchase, proof must be presented to staff so that we may add SOLD sign to exhibiting piece.
No works may be removed until the end of the exhibition.

Solo, Group, and Traveling Exhibition Proposals
Visual artists may submit proposals for exhibition throughout the year. Submissions must contain a minimum of 10-15 digital images, artist resume, and an artist statement. Our exhibits rotate each Spring (January – April), Summer (May – August), and Fall (September – December). Exhibitions are selected and curated 2-3 years in advance. Exhibition Runs June 3 – August 24, 2025
This year’s juror is Maureen O’Neill who received her B.F.A. in Painting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and her M.F.A. in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. While at RISD, she received the Award of Excellence for outstanding work as a graduate student and the Brown University Teaching Fellowship. O’Neill has exhibited her work extensively throughout the region and has recently developed workshops that focus on drawing and meditation. She is the Director of Exhibitions and Educational Programming for the Barton College Art Galleries and Assistant Professor of Art. She was the recipient of the Lincoln Financial Faculty Member of the Year Award in 2021.

Please Note: Artists must reside within 60 miles of Rocky Mount, North Carolina to qualify for this award.
Acquisition Award:
The work selected for the Acquisition Award will become part of the Arts Center’s Permanent Collection. Any artist not willing to accept the $1,500 award must submit a written statement to declare their work not eligible for this award. This statement must be submitted at the time of entry. Works not for sale will be ineligible for the award.
Media:
Open to all U.S. artists 18 years of age or older. Work must be original and executed within the past three years. Work must not have been previously exhibited at the Arts Center. Entry in this exhibit establishes an agreement on the part of the artist to all conditions listed in the prospectus.
There is NO ENTRY FEE. Artists may submit up to four works. Please view this year’s prospectus for important information including deadlines and instructions to submit.
